3 Mazda RX 7’s Your 1/64 Collection Needs.
TARMAC WORKS – SMOKIN’ HOT ICON
Sorry to spring this on you people so late but we had a look at the MAZDA RX-7 FD3S MAZDA SPEED A-SPEC from Tarmac Works, new tooling in the Global64 category and it inspired us to do our top 3 RX-7’s you should have in your collection. All three were chosen for their detail at 1/64 with Tarmac Works being the best priced.
Thoughts on the MAZDA RX-7 FD3S MAZDA SPEED A-SPEC. In chaste white, the car looks simple and clean I think the biggest feature most will be excited about is the MazdaSpeed Aero package that features the large bumper lights synonymous with endurance racers. The details that went into making those lights look the part are very admirable.

The popularity of this car is further exacerbated by the appearance of a yellow version in the now insanely popular manga series called Initial D which is so popular it has millions of fans across the world who have never read the comics or seen any of the animations. But will have every 1/64 variation of AE86 in their collection. So again, based on pop icon iconology Tarmac Works is looking at a winner.

Car rolls beautifully and the rest of the bodywork including the badging is spot on, so unless you are using some highly classified measuring tools to find any defects, we haven’t been able to find a reason why not to make this part of the collection. At the TARMAC WORKS STORE – $12.50

TOMICA LIMITED VINTAGE NEO – THE STANDARD
Another must-have in your collection in terms of RX-7s is Tomica’s Limited Vintage models. True to the title limited, these come boxed in collectors packaging and are usually the benchmark in terms of 1/64 details.

Original looking, no aero kits as God intended it to be RX-7 in a beautiful shade of wine red and fantastic detail right round, what annoys me about TLVN is they send the side mirrors separate for you to destroy while trying to attach it to the car. Wish someone would tell TOMIC to wise up on that. How much are you looking to get one of these for? Ebay has got a few clocked at about $40 although we didn’t see any in red for sale.

ROCKETBUNNY – HEAVY AERO PACKAGE
Last on the must-have list is another tuner-based RX-7. To be fair though, MAZDASPEED is Mazda’s in house tuning arm, so it still is technically ‘factory’ tuned. Unlike this little white bunny. Ignition Models does highly detailed 1/64 models that are purely display based and have no rolling wheels. But another Japanese brand that takes detail very seriously. Aftermarket tuner and body kit builder RocketBunny has been immortalized by Ignition Models and the 1/64 version come in various colours and paint finishes that include some metallic shades.

Also, all 1/64 ignition models come in an acrylic display case and attached plastic base and metal nameplate. So, you can pack and stack your ignition models without too much fuss. Gorgeous blacked wired wheel rims outlined by silver that don’t look like chromed plastic, ATTACHED side mirrors are a plus and of course, highly limited production run which means some of these are worth $80.

Three awesome Mazda’s to add to your collection, let us know if you have them, would you get them and what you think.
