California Cruisin’: Two New 1/64 Scale Mustangs from Auto World
Auto World has dropped another pair of Mustangs for you muscle car fanatics to track down. This time, we get a Grabber Blue and a Yellow Blaze California Special GT. Throughout the entire life of the Mustang, Ford has released a California Special package, which have largely been chock full of appearance upgrades. 2011 marked the first time that the Cali Special option was available for a 5.0 powered ‘Stang!

Auto World’s 2012 Boss 302, for reference
Auto World will shortly offer a 1/64 scale model of the 2012 California Special GT. I’m going to make the bold assumption that they relied heavily on their 2012 Boss 302 tooling to make these models happen. The Boss 302, if you don’t have that one yet, is incredible! For the 2012 model year, the California Special Mustangs borrowed some design elements from the Boss, such as the center mounted, tri-color prancing pony emblem.

The yellow car sports a black painted roof and sport stripes down the side, while the Grabber Blue car only includes the latter. It’s worth noting that Blaze Yellow was only available as a paint color for 2012, too. Both cars wear CS/GT correct style wheels and feature an opening hood to show off their 5.0 Coyote V8’s. Front and rear facias of both cars get premium headlight and taillight tampos, as well as crisp emblems and badges. These S-197s are fantastic, must have models for any Mustang collection!

Once again, I’d like to thank Auto World for sending these our way for a closer look! These Mustangs should be hitting the pegs soon as part of Release 3 of their Modern Muscle line, versions A and B.
