RUF CTR 2017 from Spark: the Yellowbird’s Phoenix
In a world full of reimagined Porsches, RUF stepped in to show them how its done. 2017 happened to be the 30th anniversary of the legendary RUF Yellow Bird, the world’s fastest car before the F40. To celebrate, RUF released an ultimate, three-quarter million dollar homage. 700 horses powering a chassis lighter than their outgoing CTR3 results in a 3.5 second 0-60 time. This is a legit successor to the OG Yellow Bird.

Naturally, I was awestruck as soon as I came across the real car on Instagram back in 2017. Spark followed suit with a resin 1/18 model that just had to be on my shelf. It took a little while to find, but Model Citizen Diecast ended up with one left in their inventory after attending a classic Porsche show. It ended up being one of the most expensive pieces in my collection, but you can’t blame me for absolutely needing it.

I’ve got just two flaws to point out; that’s it! Sadly even Spark uses Saran Wrap for their windows. Hot glue too, why the hot glue?! The wiper blades on the front windshield are razor sharp and detailed as ever, but two gigantic dobs of hot glue mount the on the cowl. Gross. Other than that, this is a top shelf model for sure.
