People think of ‘front-wheel drive’ as the ‘wrong-wheel drive’ but that’s not the truth. From wheel drive cars can be fun and there is a special breed of cars that shows that. The name of that breed is hot hatchbacks. Hot hatchbacks can be as usable as any other car on the planet and can also be very nice performance-wise. Sometimes though, carmakers think of taking their hot hatchbacks to another level. That is exactly what VW did with the Golf GTi Clubsport S.

As wild as a Ferrari or a Porsche, this car came to be known as the supercar of hot hatchbacks. You can think of the Clubsport S as a Golf GTi that has been in a cage for years, without any food, and now has been unleashed in the surroundings. The Clubsport S is an angrier, wilder Golf GTi. VW have kept this car raw and simple. There is not dual-clutch gearbox, its you with the car extracting every ounce of performance from it. The Clubsport S also became the fastest hot-hatchback around the Nurburgring (though that record was soon broken by the Civic Type R).

The lovely model car you see here comes from DNA Collectibles and it is a 1:18 iteration of the Clubsport S. The attention to detailing that DNA have done in this model is staggering. You can see the aggressive black pack just like the real car. Outside, you can see the extra lip on the front and side skirts, rear spoiler and the brake callipers.

Inside you will find the same Recaro F1 fabric seats and no rear seats. Just like the real car, this model lacks rear seats. Instead, it has a rear strut bar. The interior also features red-centre stitching on the steering wheel, multimedia screen and G-Force gauges. If you are a true model car nerd, then you will also notice the left turn signal and right wipers switches.
DNA claim that they have made this model for “true collectors” and it is available to pre order now on DNA Collectibles website. So, what are you waiting for? Buy it before we do!
