This time on Castheads Magazine Short Shots, we feature something off the unbeaten path. If you’ve heard about Swedish car makers, then you would have surely heard the name ‘Saab’. For many years, Saab was the go-to Swedish car brand. If you wanted a reliable, all-rounded, sensible and handsome car, then you had to buy a Saab. But not everything Saab did was sensible.

Back in 1985, there was a racing series called ‘Scandinavian Special Saloon Cup’ which comprised of eight races. Saab saw this race as a great place for marketing and so they created the Saab 900 Turbo, a car that displayed the brand’s “sporty” side.
Sadly though, despite having former Formula One driver Leo Juhani ‘Leksa’ Kinnunen behind its wheel, the Saab 900 Turbo couldn’t achieve relevant results due to technical difficulties and other issues and it disappeared forever.

Now though, Autocult have made a 1:43 scale model of the Saab 900 Turbo and it looks awesome. Featuring the exact same livery as the real car back in 1985, this model even has the same number 24 on it. It looks like a hardcore rally car ready for some nerve-tingling action. We like it.
