The legend of Tomica strikes back big!
As a newborn to the diecast world, the brand Tomica implanted an interest in my mind. I was curious as to why this brand and why it’s loved amongst every individual in the world of diecast models.
Let’s start this simply, and go back in time when this brand arose from the land of Japan.
The Tomica tale begins in 1970 when model vehicles referred to either imported 1:64 scale cars or bigger 1:43 size Japanese cars for collectors. The founders of Tomica set out on a goal to provide miniature diecast automobiles based on vehicles made by Japanese automakers to the children of Japan.

Tomica’s goods were unique in that they were based on Japanese automobiles.
Their diecast bodies gave them a realistic appearance, and they were painted with the same baked enamel finish as actual cars. With these features, as well as extras like precise suspension and ultra-smooth performance, you can’t go wrong.
There’s a recap for those newbies out there like myself. Now, back to the purpose of this blog.
The heading speaks for itself as this brand was one of the oldest living Japanese model car producers. As many other 1:64 scale brands are running the market with their cars, Tomica wanted to challenge this concept and show the world why they are the best of the best!
Let me pull up the curtain and show you the three latest models going into the market. The Tomica Premium has the unlimited 03 Knight Rider Night 2000 KITT, the 02 Detective Conan Ford Mustang (Shuichi Akai), and the 01 Fast & Furious RX-7! Isn’t that a bloody amazing lineup of classics!
By carefully targeting the collector’s desires towards what models they would die for, Tomica raises the bar with this release and skids their tires on the 1:64 market!
