Ford GT – Hommage To A Racing Legend
As some of you know I have a special passion for the Ford GT40, more precisely for the GT40 MKII. It is one of the racing cars on par with excellence and inspires me again and again. And although I don’t really like the vehicle category hypercar, I really like the latest Ford GT a lot. Ford has managed, even if it does not have a V8 engine installed, a perfect reincarnation of the GT40 from the sixties to bring on today’s roads.

When Ford unveiled a special edition of the Ford GT to the public in August, 2020 with a perfectly produced promotional video, I immediately fell in love with the car. It was a tribute to a winning GT40 driven by Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby at the 1966 Daytona 24 Hours race.

However, since I will probably never have the pleasure of ever seeing one of the strictly limited vehicles, I really hoped that there would be a scale model of it. My wish came true when Maisto announced a 1/18 scale miniature in late fall 2020. I did not hesitate to pre-order this Maisto GT at one of my local model car dealers. A few days ago, the time had come. The anticipation was really great and I was not disappointed!

For months, I already had in mind how the pictures of the model should look. Except for a few pictures, I am very satisfied with the results. On one of my last photo shoots I used a black acrylic plate as a background to create a mirror effect. I got so much positive feedback on it that I used the same setup for the Ford GT as well. Enough words – enjoy the pictures!
