BBR and Mini GT Collab: This is it!
At long last, Mini GT has shed the light on their collaboration with high-end 1/18 maker BBR Models. Two 1/64 scale models have been presented on Mini GT’s Facebook page just this evening. They have an Italian double feature in store for us collectors: The Maserati MC20 and the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm. A white and a black colorway MC20 were displayed in the photos posted, but they’ve also snuck packaging for a red car in the back. Both GTA and GTAm models and packaging were displayed in red, while also showcasing a box for that seductive Alfa green.

Mini GT did not set a hard date for when these highly anticipated models will be available, only promising they will be available for pre-order soon. Additional details were provided as far as what to expect of these cars, including a full metal body and full metal chassis. Headlight lenses will be separate, clear plastic pieces, not tampos. They have also promised us rolling, rubber tires and detailed wheels, metal emblems, and realistic carbon fibre detail. Packaging for these cars will be like other Mini GT cars with a cardboard box for safe storage while not on display.

My favorite part of the announcement though, was the price. Surprisingly, at least to me, is that these will start at $17.50 USD. A bit more expensive than your average Mini GT, but certainly not “BBR Prices”. These cars will also be distributed through Mini GT dealers, so all of our favorite vendors should be carrying these in the near future. This will be the first time BBR has dipped into the premium 1/64 scale market. I can’t want to get them ALL!
