The Voluptuous 164E
Creative Director Nigel De Zilwa takes a walk around the new Volvo by DNA Collectibles.
If you are a VOLVO fan and feel like you are alone in the world, you couldn’t be any more removed from the reality. In fact, the VOLVO movement is so strong… the new model drop has been mandated and commissioned by one of the largest, most influential and most educational car model group you can find on social media.

For context, the VOLVO Model Cars Group on FB is run by a gentleman and avid Volvo expert by the name of Bert Jan Nijuis. His passion and knowledge about these Swedish wonders have resulted in him being the admin and curator of a page that is probably one of the places to go if you want any information about Volvo Scale Models, you would be hard-pressed to come away without an answer.

If a Daimler Jag and a Gran Torino had a love child….
And that is exactly what DNA Collectibles did. After the success of the P1800 DNA Collectibles went to the Volvo Model Cars Group and said “Hey Guys we want to make some more Volvo’s what would be you interested in?” And for the first time in human history public opinion was sort and no one said Honda Civic.

Definitely a good looking car without a doubt

If that 8 track player doesn’t rock your devil is in the detail world we don’t know what will
Instead, after careful thought before clicking, the community came together, and votes were cast in favor of the 164E. 2 days ago they dropped their new 1/18 Volvo 164 E in metallic blue (also chosen by the group) and in true DNA form, they have captured everything about this car with intimate detail.
Realistic photo-etched parts in the interior, true to life replication of that iconic front grille, and the period-correct badging everything about this DNA Collectibles model is a dream come true for the Volvo Collector. Unboxing a DNA Collectibles model is like sipping pink champagne on the French Riviera at sunset albeit a lot cheaper.

The car itself is also quite the looker. Sleek sedan lines that start from those seductive Daimler-esque four round headlights to the quaint European styling rear lights. The large and proud 164E badge at the back let everyone know that this model had the new BOSCH made D-Jetronic fuel injection system that produced more power with less pollution than its older carburetor powered brothers. DNA has even remembered to add the Volvo branded mud flaps

the “E” stands for einspritzung (German for “injection”) the most common fact found on this car
Now, this is brand spanking new so, no we don’t have an actual model but we have reviewed other DNA models enough of times to tell you that their quality is consistent and we have had no Quality issues at all in any way. In fact, you can catch our review of the Subaru BAJA in the upcoming issue of the magazine and I can tell you right now it is pretty frickin’ flawless, we got one.
