Christy Goes Drifting

Christy goes drifting. Drifter. Pianist. Model. She is quite the multifaceted individual and that’s how she describes herself in her social media profiles. Christy Louis Namwong hails from Thailand, where she is insanely popular, both on and off the drift track. She’s also gaining popularity in the rest of Asia, and with the support of Majorette, she’s fast becoming a global phenomenon.

She loves to interact with her fans, even the littlest ones.

We love her immensely for the fact that she’s become a role model for girls to take up more types of motorsports. Her visibility, and the support of a diecast brand like Majorette, makes both motorsports and diecast collecting more attractive for girls, and boys, all across the world. Christy joins a bevy of ladies like Leona Chin, Ai San, and Awano Kisaragi to name a few, who are making waves in the drifting circuit.

She built her own car.

Christy brought her car stock standard and spent almost two years bringing it up to a near-perfect drifter. The car is a 2JZ swapped beast producing almost 650hp! She drives for the Majorette Daemon Drift Team. So it was quite a thrilled to get the entire selection of Christy Louis Nissan Cefiros scale models, delivered to the CastHeads Garage. The cars come in the distinctive paint job and a black, red, white and silver color scheme. The opening hood shows off a quite detailed engine

The Models

Five versions of the outstandingly styled Nissan Cefiro A31 exist. The first one came out in the Racing Cars series in a standard blister pack with a Collector’s Card.

Majorette released three versions in 2020 All the models feature black interior, rubber tires, and suspension. The only difference being the wheels colors in red, white and black. The black being the closest to the actual drift car. They come in the larger blister pack with accompanying storage box, which, is great for those of us who like to free our cars, and then store them away. The cards and boxes feature Christy’s picture in her various racing kits and signature.

For 2021, Majorette updated the car with gold rims and red interior. Now you are going to ask what’s with the gold rims? Yes, it actually exists. It is the show-off version used for various events in Thailand.

Its impressive to note that Majorette, managed to match all the different versions of her car in miniature form. It’s always gratifying to collect a scale model of a sportsperson who admire.

New Wheels on the Horizon.

We can’t wait for what comes next, as Christy is in the process of checking out a new set of wheels for her drifting. We are sure that it’s something that a lot of collectors might be interested in. She had shared a pic of her testing her new ride in her Instagram.

She’s testing a Nissan 300ZX, and we are thrilled, at the possibility that this might get made into a whole slew of models. The model looks cracking in it’s paint scheme and red/black rims. We want this made, in as many variations, as humanly possible. With a Christy Louis figure to pose next to it. Let us know in the comments below on what you think.

Most of these models are Thailand only releases. It can be a bit of a hassle to get your hands on them if you are from other parts of the world.
