Shocking! Tarmac Works Absolutely Shocking!
Not all the TW cars that come my way are media samples contrary to popular belief. In fact, quite a bit of my collection are cars purchased by me, the recent being the Mr.Men GTR, Tiffany Blue RWB and this ultra-sick Luminous Green Ford Mustang from the GLOBAL 64 line.
The Global64 line leaves you with the least remorse with its reduced-price tag. But shit be told people quality is far away from being cheaper, in fact the quality is so good on this car it was a VOLT shock to the system. Honestly my first reaction to the unboxing was deep and utter respect for the team behind this.
THE QC Conundrum
Tarmac Works has been dealing with the issue of Quality Control for a while now and the better part of Asia has not taken it too kindly. Interestingly on the other side of the world the complaint is more about the lack of supply and shipping costs (which is no one’s fault but the logistics companies and duty officers). Groups have been set up to discuss the issue and to be fair from what we’ve seen Tarmac Works has always been open to the criticism and are in a constant state of improvement.
A JOLT OF VOLT
So, with great expectation to find some grave productions mistakes like a broken wing (cue Mr. Mister), or bent wheel axle, hopefully the mirrors mounted at the back, back to the front, something, something that would make me feel like I belong in one of those QC social media groups! What I did feel was a kindred disappointment, with some of those TW owners who had found a paint chip while looking at the car under a microscope. My disappointment came in NOT finding anything. Please bear in mind there are some legit QC problems and there are some seemingly blown out of proportion but I’m not here to fight for or justify anything.
MUSTANG GT 500
I am completely satisfied and more than happy with my purchase. The paint is even over the body and all the racing decals are perfect and sharp. The paint feels like it has been multiple coated, no body defects or blemishes, lights are set into the bodywork nicely and even the rear wing is near perfect in balance. What shocked me the most was, the smoothness of ride. IT ROLLS as smooth as a HotWheels.
Global64 vs. Hobby64
This is an interesting question, because both have lots of pros and cons at different price points. Personally, I won’t make the choice there are plenty of options in both categories which would make it shame to try and narrow the choice down to one. This Mustang is currently my favourite 1/64 car at the moment and if you can get your hands on one, you’ll see why.
