The CastHeads 2022 Black Friday Guide
Let’s get the worst one out of the way first… I’m so disappointed by the “sale” Diecast Models Wholesale is putting on. TEN PERCENT?! Every customer gets a 10% off code with every order. I can’t think of the last order I placed with DMW where I didn’t get at least 10% off. What stinks even more is that you can’t apply this coupon to closeout models. Do yourselves a favor and just type in “NEXT” to get your 10% off, and give your fingers a rest. Better yet, let’s see what everyone else is offering…
Five Diecast’s Black Friday is a bit better, and by bit I mean an extra 5%. They are offering 15% off all in-stock models, site wide. Their sale will run all the way until the 27th, so don’t feel like you need to log in first thing Friday morning.
Another site wide sale, Replicarz will take 15% off in stock orders with promo codes “SALE”. Just make sure you hit the $75 minimum in your basket first. They also have a selection of deeply discounted models, but you might recognize these cars from their Labor Day sale, their Fourth of July sale…. you get the point. Unfortunately, no double-dipping is allowed with the promo code and the selected models.
For our friends in the EU, Mondo Modelcars is offering a disappointing 10% off… BUT! you can get the discount off cars already on sale! So that’s something, right? Almost cuts the 22% VAT in half!
Here is where you’ll find my full shopping cart. Modelissimo is offering 20% off everything, even things already on sale. Shipping might be a little steep coming across the pond to me in the States, but it is a flat rate charge! Plus, their prices are reasonable to begin with, so it doesn’t feel like your discount is only getting applied to the seller’s markup here.
For you high-rolling CastHeads out there, MR and LookSmart look to be offering 20-50% off their artworks. At the time of posting, their site is down for maintenance getting ready, so I can’t offer any insight as to what they have in store for us. I can tell you though, that every Black Friday purchase will come with a free gift!
Mint Models is taking a different approach to this Black Friday. Remember “door busters” when you actually had to go to a store for Black Friday shopping? Mint is offering up ten or so models at a steeper discount than normal each day this weekend. They are also going to shuffle those models around each day; meaning the door buster cars on Saturday will be different from the door buster cars on Friday. Keep a close eye on the fine print though. In the first batch, we have the Solido Porsche 964 RSR in yellow marked down to $35. An amazing price for sure, but no way is that a 55% markdown, as it is advertised. No one is selling Solido’s at $70… If none of the door busters pique your interest, you can add “SAVE15” to your order and get $15 bucks off, as long as your total is over $100.
CK Modelcars is also offering 20% off, but shipping costs to the US have been tough to justify. They also offer flat-rate shipping, but the last few times I’ve tried to order from them, I’ve been hit with a “crisis surcharge” from DHL. Still, you’ll be hard pressed to find a wider selection than what CK has to offer.
1/64 scale collectors will be happy to know that Jcar has a large selection of cars on sale. You might have to shift through the 4 pages of items to find a treasure, but it depends on what you are after.
