Rowdy AUDI R8’s – Nigel De Zilwa
Almost 20 years ago Audi’s Halo car was dropped onto the scene at the Geneva Motor Car Show and has since maintained a captivating drive in Audi’s portfolio.
Majorette drops a lot of Audi models and variations out of which I have grown to like one of the simpler castings which is the R8. The actual car is in fact a nimble little beast that propels its tiny frame along with a V10 engine. A proper scrapper that can be deadly in a street fight.

However, when I said simple casting it is, compared to the rest of Majorette’s line. The unavailable bits would be the opening parts and suspension. But it still retains the plastic headlights, rear light tampos, badges right round the car, textured front grille, molded interior including engine with anti-roll crossbar and tiny aero shaped side mirrors.

I have been able to collect four color variations, two of which come from special sets. The FC Bayern Munchen is from the football livery set and the Matt Black version in from the black edition that came out towards the end of last year. Seems like yesterday. The other two are from the regular mainlines that comes out during the year’s releases.

I’ve grown quite attached to this casting and I’m looking forward to some newer variations of this cast, maybe a highway police, or fire chief R8 or even something in some racing livery. Or, something as simple as, just a stunning paint job.
