RADtastic Voyage: the 1986 Toyota Van from HotWheels
The 1986 Toyota Van might be Hot Wheels’s hottest casting right now. Me personally, I just don’t the appeal. I understand that it checks the boxes for raddness, the nostalgia factor, and JDM yo, but to me the Dodge Caravan will always wear the minivan crown. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic little van. For $1, you shouldn’t let my ramblings hold you back if you find one on the pegs!

The shape of the casting is van-tastic. Mattel has blessed us with side mirrors, a sun roof top, and even a rear spoiler. The Hot Wheels Dream Team is just begging you to strip the paint and customize this bad boy. The headlamps are separate pieces; attached to the car via the windshield and window plastic. Zero tampos up front, but we get taillights, license plate, and a ‘Toyota’ emblem out back. Those turbofan-style wheels are in interesting choice, but somehow work. You got to love the quad-exhaust tips too!

The chassis plate obviously intends to be an after-market style body kit with its ridiculous box-flares. Ridiculous in a good way, of course! The front bumper is a tad too bookshelf-y for my taste. It looks like Toyota designers were inspired by the deck of a pontoon boat. It looks like an homage to Jay Leno. It looks like a parking spot for a mobility scooter. Okay, I’ll stop.
